We recently completed another exciting year of CASE’s Global Consulting Practicum in Social Entrepreneurship (GCP).
The GCP is a field study course in which teams of Duke MBA students complete projects with social enterprises serving base-of-the-pyramid markets in developing economies. Throughout the course, the student teams work from the United States, communicating with the client organization via phone and email, and also have a two week, in-country field visit to gather information and work on projects.
This year we had 58 students, 11 social ventures, 2 countries (Johannesburg, South Africa and Hyderabad, India), and lots of good times and meaningful impact! The clients ranged from mobile banking and financial literacy (Wizzit Bank; Operation HOPE) to energy/environment (Thrive Energy; Food and Trees for Africa) to global health (Healing Fields Foundation; LV Prasad Eye Institute; and, SightLife) and more!

That’s awesome that the University was able to show how mobile capture/mobile banking works. I bet it helped out those countries and all the people involved with this. Thanks for sharing.
