I have served at Duke in a variety of staff and teaching roles since 2012, following a career in investment banking and corporate finance. As managing director for private equity and venture capital in Duke I&E, I seek to advance education and pathways for students preparing for careers in private equity, venture capital and entrepreneurship through acquisition.

My career in the finance industry included advising corporate clients, founders and private equity firms on acquisitions, divestitures, leveraged finance transactions and IPOs. My passion for helping others was inspired by my mom, who worked as a family counselor, and my dad, who practiced medical psychology and acupuncture. In returning to work at Duke, I have enjoyed investing in the student experience and “bringing the marketplace into the classroom.”

I co-teach the Private Equity Buyouts Lab course at Fuqua, which is designed to provide students with direct exposure to the private equity investing process through engagement with Duke alumni in the industry and the application of investing principles. I also serve as adjunct faculty in the Duke Department of Economics, teaching a course on private equity buyouts.

Prior to my work in Duke I&E, I served as managing director in the Experiential Learning Office at Fuqua, where I managed the Fuqua Client Consulting Practicum and the Mentored Study Program, which I continue to steward today. I began my staff career at Fuqua as the sector director for finance in the Career Management Center, where I served as a career coach to students and employer relations lead for financial institutions recruiting at Fuqua.

I earned my BBA from Baylor University and my MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. I have held finance industry positions at Enron Corp., Wachovia Securities, now Wells Fargo, and Jefferies.

My interests include water skiing, being an avid fan of Louisiana sports teams and Duke, and, most of all, cheering on my entrepreneurial spouse and our two daughters in life.
