In a competitive job market, it’s easy to feel pressure to move quickly by applying broadly, reacting to job postings, and trying to keep up with peers. But after working with thousands of students through many years and various economic conditions, I’ve found that timing and sequencing matter.

Given my growing curiosity about how data is used in sports, the idea of applying analytics to a real team was especially meaningful.

The Fuqua Quantitative Management Programs Data Competition motivated us to find new applications for machine learning and data analysis in a field that we’re deeply passionate about: sports.
