Since starting the Accelerated MSQM: Business Analytics program, we’ve each seen meaningful changes in how we approach our work. Since joining the MSQM program, I have incorporated more data-driven approaches to problem-solving. This involves learning and applying quantitative analytics techniques — such as decision trees, optimization, and modeling — to analyze data and enable informed decision-making.
I noticed my confidence grew after orientation weekend when all students from the cohort came together to engage in team-building activities and collaborative learning. This experience helped me become more focused, sharpened my communication skills, and strengthened my leadership abilities.

I think of data differently now. As a real estate appraiser, I have been trained to understand the value of good data to make work products more accurate and easier to produce. However, as I work through the program, I think of data as more than just a resource for the assignment in front of me. If aggregated and developed, it can be used over and over to solve problems and bring new insights to our business.

I am grasping concepts quicker due to my time in the program. Working in analytics during the week and having class on similar topics adds fuel to the fire when trying to learn a new skill.
Learning about new data analytics tools has helped my performance at work. I’ve taken advantage of more opportunities to lead because of the hands-on experience I have gained in the program. Being able to speak more analytically has been a big help, both at work and in class, with understanding concepts and making them more applicable in the correct ways.
