As I reflect on my journey as a student at Duke University, I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude and excitement. Being part of the MMS: Duke Kunshan University (MMS: DKU) program at Fuqua has been a life-changing experience. Now, as I prepare to continue this journey at Duke Kunshan University in China, I am thrilled to step into a new chapter that promises to broaden my horizons and deepen my understanding of the world.

A Foundation of Excellence

My time at Duke has been nothing short of extraordinary. From day one, I was immersed in an environment that fostered growth, collaboration, and innovation. The rigorous coursework challenged me to think critically, while the teamwork and group projects pushed me to value diverse perspectives. Each moment at Duke has been a lesson in resilience, adaptability, and creativity.

What makes Duke truly special is its people. The Blue Devil community is a vibrant tapestry of students, faculty, and alumni who inspire and support one another. Whether cheering at basketball games in Cameron Indoor Stadium, engaging in thought-provoking classroom discussions, or participating in club activities, I have always felt part of something larger — a community committed to excellence and impact.

Duke has also provided me with countless memorable experiences that I will cherish forever. Bonding with my team members during Triangle Training, enjoying a lovely picnic at the Sarah P. Duke Gardens, and celebrating the Autumn Festival by making mooncakes are just a few highlights. I am so grateful for the various fun activities organized by Fuqua that made my time here so enriching.

Finding a Community

As an international student, the entire DKU section made me feel so welcome. Despite being in a new country, their friendliness and support made all the difference. They not only helped me settle in but also went out of their way to ensure I had an incredible experience. I even learned a bit of Chinese, which came in handy when bonding with friends over delicious Chinese lunches.

Special thanks must go to Tina Zhang, the Senior Program Coordinator, who went above and beyond to help me with my doubts about the program. Her kindness and approachability eased my journey immensely. Similarly, Yue, the Program Director, was always so supportive and helpful. Their guidance and compassion truly reflect the spirit of Duke.

I have also been fortunate to make amazing friends and interact with so many other sweet people in my class. They welcomed me with open arms and made my time in the program unforgettable. One of my favorite memories were dinner parties with friends, where I got to enjoy authentic Chinese dishes and the most refreshing iced tea. These moments of bonding and cultural exchange are memories I will treasure forever.

The next phase of my journey at Duke Kunshan University fills me with anticipation. As an international student from India, the opportunity to live and study in China represents a unique blend of cultural immersion and academic exploration. DKU’s innovative approach to education — its emphasis on interdisciplinary, cross-cultural exchange, and global citizenship — aligns perfectly with my aspirations.

China’s rich history and its pivotal role in today’s global economy make it a fascinating place to learn and grow. I am excited to engage with DKU’s diverse student body, explore the country’s vibrant culture, and gain firsthand insights into its business and societal dynamics. This experience will not only expand my worldview but also equip me with the skills and perspective to thrive in an interconnected world.
