Where to Live in Durham?
A big question on my mind as I prepared to move to Durham was where I was going to live. Of primary concern to me was safety, but price and proximity to school were also high on the list. There are a number of options in terms of where to live both on and off campus. The Duke housing website provides information for graduate students, including a listing of vacancies. The MMS incoming student website also includes additional information.
On-Campus Housing
Though it’s limited, there is graduate student housing on campus. As with most campus housing it’s not fancy, but it’s functional. Apply here.
Off-Campus Housing
- Bus Route Accessible Locations: The Belmont, Poplar West, The Lofts, Trinity Commons, The Forest, Colonial Village
- Need a Car for Transportation: The Parc at University Tower (this is where I lived and I loved it; it’s affordable, safe and has great management) and West Village
This list is by no means exhaustive; but includes places where most of my classmates lived.
