Kim Lambert with local woman
I enjoyed meeting this lovely local woman and giving back to the Durham community through the holiday project.

Second-year students Brooke Henze and Kelsey Diao led the Share Your Holiday Project this year, and once again, the program triumphed in combatting the holiday blues for some local Durham residents.

Because of the efforts of many student volunteers and sponsors, 38 people received gifts and help with basic holiday needs from a collection of over $2,000.

By partnering with the Volunteer Center of Durham’s annual Share Your Christmas program, Fuqua was able to give back to the community and sponsor families, children, the elderly, and those unable to leave their homes. Durham social workers and the Durham Volunteer Center made it easy for students to receive wish lists from their sponsored individuals. It was obvious how much hard work and care went into making those wishes come true.

An organized shopping trip and wrapping party in Faculty Hall after Fuqua Friday made the experience incredibly enjoyable. It was a great way to bond with fellow students before winter break and to kick off the holiday shopping season. The best part of the whole experience, though, was the delivery of the gifts to the local recipients. With such a warm reception, there was no better way to end the year!
