A Chicago native, I went to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to study accountancy. After, I spent my career in a variety of finance-related roles including management consulting, investment banking, and venture capital prior to Fuqua. I came to Fuqua because of the strong culture and team-based camaraderie, which to me, provides the best and most well-rounded balance between academics, social, extracurriculars, etc. All this in the warm and friendly ecosystem that is Durham and the greater Research Triangle area, a burgeoning tech hotspot in the country. At Fuqua, I was a two-year cabinet member in the Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Club, where I led Fuqua’s first official EVCC career trek to Austin, TX, in 2019. Since graduating Fuqua, I have launched my own venture Fund, Newlin.vc, focused on finding the best immigrant founders in food tech, insurtech, Internet of Things, and consumer markets at seed and series A stages. The fund invests in North and South American companies. When I am not doing venture deals, you’ll find me MMA and Muay Thai training or on the golf course.
