The Black Student Association recently held its first official club outing. We took a trip to see the movie Red Tails. The movie chronicles the challenges faced by the first all-African American unit of aviators (also popularly know as the Tuskegee Airmen) in the US Armed Forces, during World War II. The movie reflects on history, resilience, persistence, and the power of team work and friendship.

As corny as this may sound, it reminded me quite of bit of some of the experiences I’ve had within the MMS program so far, particularly as they relate to Team Fuqua. Graduate school is an amazing experience, filled with many opportunities to learn and grow both intellectually and on a more personal level. It is also a tough experience – one which is made immensely more enjoyable by having a supportive network of friends, classmates, and faculty. Go Team Fuqua!

If you have the chance, please do make time to see this movie. It also happens to be the last film from Star Wars Producer George Lucas.
