Current Role
I currently work as lead development manager for a large not for profit financial company, TIAA, that provides retirement and other financial services to universities, hospitals and other not for profit businesses. And yes, Duke University is our client along with 80% of the other universities in the U.S.
In this role, I coach, mentor, and manage a global org of system analysts and technical leads who support our company’s record keeping system for all money-in transactions. I am passionate about providing meaningful and practical solutions to today’s business problems. I consider technology as the biggest enabler of business, and therefore I’m always on a quest to learn new developments in technology as well the direction of business.
Career Path
After finishing my bachelors in engineering, I started my career at a heavy equipment manufacturing company—TELCON in 2000. Soon after, I started chasing my passion for computers and technology, and ended up moving to the 'silicon valley' of India, Bangalore, to work for Infosys Technologies Limited. Shortly after, I moved to the U.S. to work for JP Morgan in their Kansas City office where I led all their new business data conversion. In my quest to get closer to the core business, I moved to TIAA in our Denver office in 2005, and transferred to the North Carolina office in 2009.
In my professional experience, I have discovered that diversity and team work are the two most important ingredients of any successful company and have been fortunate to have the opportunity to build strong teams that can demonstrate both.
In My Free Time...
I currently live in Holly Springs, N.C., with my wife and 2 daughters. My hobbies include traveling, exploring various cultures, and playing several sports. I have played semi-professional cricket in the 3 U.S. states where I have lived. In NC, I have also played club level racquetball and squash. I was an avid snowboarder while I was in Colorado but haven’t explored the mountains in N.C. yet. The latest addition to my hobbies is running around with my daughter, whose energy level beats mine in any sport that I have ever played.
