Coming from an energy and financial services background, I knew I needed to develop my functional skills further, regardless of my industry of choice.

Growing up in a small town with limited resources, I never had many opportunities to explore leadership roles or discover my full potential. But that changed when I came to Fuqua.

I worked with teammates from diverse backgrounds, ranging from management consulting to private equity, to help position a surgical robot against a competitor.

The opportunity to get my hands dirty working on a real-life business problem, and see the impact we were making in real-time, went far beyond classroom learning for me.

As investors and consumers increasingly call for companies to respond to social and environmental issues, it’s clear that gaining an understanding of energy and sustainability issues is a good move for MBAs.

I came to Duke’s Fuqua School of Business with the goal of building out my strategy skillset.

Experiential learning provides a great platform to interact with and potentially help solve real-world problems as a business school student.

The Fuqua Client Consulting Practicum (FCCP), was the perfect opportunity to learn more about the tech industry and a great way to build onto my existing skillset.

Getting your MBA provides an opportunity to explore different interests and build on existing skills. The challenge is weighing the desire to be busy and explore new opportunities with maintaining a healthy balance in your life.
