As someone who desperately needed this when I was searching for a place to live a year ago, I’ll be giving you details that I wish I had known when I was going through this process.

When I decided to travel to Durham at the start of the MMS program, I swore to myself that I will get out of my little bubble of comfort.

I found my seat in a lecture hall during our Duke Master of Management Studies orientation session. I was too nervous to bother with what time it was.

Coming to Fuqua has been my dream for as long as I can remember.

I chose Fuqua’s Master of Management Studies: Duke Kunshan University program for its team-emphasis culture.

I was sold on “Team Fuqua” from my first day at MMS orientation. What I didn’t realize is that this team mentality would become the most valuable aspect of my time here both personally and professionally.

Shooters is not a monopoly. Yes, it might be the closest and most club-like establishment in Durham. However, there are so many other options for a fun night out that aren’t as widely circulated.

Before arriving in Durham I’m pretty sure my first Google Maps search was “Best food in Durham.” I am a passionate foodie, a two-year Yelp Elite member, and lover of all things boba.

When life becomes a bumpy ride, real friends are always by your side. Through good times and bad, mixing with people from different cultures was never a challenge for me.

Great friendships are built over shared empathy...and pizza.
