My name is Jan, and I am currently pursuing my Master of Management Studies degree at Fuqua. Originally from Germany, I made the leap across the Atlantic in 2018, driven by a passion for leadership, global-mindedness, and the opportunity to join NCAA collegiate athletics. I am the oldest of three and a very proud brother to my siblings, Malte and Pia.
Before Fuqua, I served my alma mater, Queens University of Charlotte, as both a team captain for Queens Swimming and later as Chief of Staff for the Athletics Department, leading initiatives in organizational development and strategic planning. As a four-year team captain, I had the privilege of guiding Queens Swimming to multiple NCAA Championships before advancing my career as a professional swimmer with Team Charlotte, including the 2024 Olympic Trials.
At Fuqua, I am further strengthening my business acumen and leadership skills while actively contributing to the community as a Career Ambassador, a Teaching Assistant for Business Analytics and Leadership Communication, and the Blue Devil Experience Chair with Admissions Ambassadors. Beyond Fuqua, I support Duke Athletics as a Gameday Assistant for Corporate Partnerships and connect with fellow aviation enthusiasts through the Duke Aviators Club.
Post-Fuqua, I am excited to take on my next challenge as a Finance & Accounting Manager at Procter & Gamble. Throughout my journey, one constant has been my life motto: “Show me your friends, I’ll show you your future.” This belief has shaped my approach to leadership and building meaningful relationships. In my free time, I love planespotting, learning about geopolitics, and attending social events — both professional and casual — because 80% of life is about showing up.
I look forward to learning about your journey while supporting your path to Fuqua and beyond!
