Attending Blue Devil Experience a year ago as a prospective student made my final decision to join Fuqua much easier. The two-day event for students admitted to Fuqua’s MMS or MQM programs. It provided me with valuable insights, reassured me about my decision, and allowed me to connect with the Duke community on a personal level.

Preparing for Blue Devil Experience

After I signed up for the Blue Devil Experience, I received emails outlining our two-day schedule, providing me with materials to prepare for the mock class, and informing me that accommodation at the JB Duke Hotel was included.

I did some research on the MQM curriculum and career opportunities before arriving. This helped me tailor my questions and expectations for the event.

Highlights from My Blue Devil Experience

Lunch with Admissions Ambassadors: The event kicked off with a lunch where I had the chance to mingle with Admissions Ambassadors. The current students shared their experiences, giving me valuable insights into life on campus, MQM coursework, and extracurricular activities. It was a great experience to start with. Not only did I have informative conversations with current students but everyone was very friendly. I could already sense the Fuqua spirit within a short period of time.

Consultation with the Financial Aid Office: I had some questions about scholarships and financial aid, and Blue Devil Experience included the opportunity to chat one-on-one with the financial aid office. They provided me with detailed information on scholarships, loans, and other financial resources available to students.

Mock Class: One of the highlights of the event was the mock class. While there were readings to prepare in advance, the class was a stimulating discussion showcasing the quality of education at Fuqua. I thoroughly enjoyed the interactive and welcoming environment in these classes.

Campus/Fuqua Tour: We also had a thorough tour of Duke’s campus and Fuqua. This gave us a chance to see Duke’s facilities and connect with students and faculty. Current students shared their enjoyable experiences and memories in different facilities, making the prospect of attending Fuqua feel more vivid and relatable.

Social Evening: The day concluded with a fun-filled social event in downtown Durham. This was a great opportunity to relax, unwind, and get to know more fellow prospective students. The atmosphere was lively. I found myself forming connections with future classmates, which further solidified my decision in coming to Fuqua.

Blue Devil Experience was an essential step in my journey to Fuqua because it helped me picture my life here. Now, I am thankful to serve as a Blue Devil Experience chair. The position allows me to shape the experience of other admitted students, helping them see their future at Fuqua.
