When I looked into what Team Fuqua meant, I saw that it was described as a whole that values strong friendship, places great importance on collaboration, and is ready to support each other at all times.

Business school can get stressful at times, especially when it’s an extremely fast-paced 10-month program like MQM.

Having lived in two of the most populated cities in India, Durham could be considered an unusual choice for the location of my graduate school. However, I had heard great things about it.

Looking back, I gained a lot, not only from the program but from the entire experience of studying in a business school in a different country.

Before coming to Fuqua, I trained with a triathlon team in my home country of Mexico, and I wanted to continue being active in the sport while living in Durham.

Ever since I was eight years old living in the dense cornfields of Greenwood, Indiana, I have never missed a nationally televised Duke Men’s Basketball game.

I knew the words Fuqua and Friday, but separately, not as a term “Fuqua Friday.”

The Spring Term 1 Master of Quantitative Management (MQM) Competition is a data visualization competition where students use data to communicate and analyze problems. Alongside my teammates, Yiqi He and Selina Zhou, I participated in the competition to explore racial disparity in the United States.

Graduating during the pandemic after completing my master’s degree from my bedroom was certainly not how I pictured my final moments in the MQM program. However, those last few months brought forth a unique learning experience.

Now that we've graduated and most of my MQM classmates and I have entered our permanent vacations from academia, I can honestly say—I miss online classes.
