I am originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, so I am not too far away from home here in Durham. I majored in English at N.C. State University. Outside of school I enjoy cooking, writing, playing sports, and occasionally working on cars.

Before coming to Fuqua, I held two internships at N.C. State. The first was in the recycling and sustainability office in 2007, where I created inventories and marketing materials, and I also marketed the recycling/sustainability program to incoming students at orientation. This internship was a valuable experience for me because I learned a great deal about sustainable philosophy and practice, as well as the realities and practicalities associated with these philosophies. I also realized that I am very interested in local food and gardening, as well as sustainable practices that have positive overall economic value.

I also interned in the landscaping department at N.C. State in 2009, and maintained an inventory of trees and landscape installments across the campus. It was an interesting job, and I spent lots of time by myself, checking and watering trees. In this position I was able to practice my Spanish speaking with several of the other crew members, and I certainly developed a strong work ethic while out in the hot Carolina summer.

Finally, this past summer I interned at a small consulting firm in the triangle area, where I was mainly tasked with creating marketing materials and promoting company values. This was another valuable experience, as I learned about marketing and consulting simultaneously, and I was able to see what these industries are really about.

I look forward to seeing how my experiences impact my time at Fuqua, and ultimately my career path as I gain more business skills.
