The concept of “Team Fuqua” and its emphasis on social impact through business resonated deeply with my career aspirations.

I came to Duke to layer business strategy on top of my design skills and be capable of creating the change I want to see in the world, but I quickly felt out of place.

There was I time where I doubted whether I was smart or important enough to even have a place at Fuqua. I became my own barrier to success, and I know I’m not alone in that.

After years of detours, doubts, and delays, I had finally said yes to a long-held dream, but I was quickly reminded that dreaming and doing are two very different things.

I had built a strong career in tech, an industry that often downplays the need for an MBA. I had learned how to navigate ambiguity, how to drive results, and how to lead. But something was missing.

Serving in the 75th Ranger Regiment, the U.S. Army helped me find aspects of a home that I missed growing up and joining Fuqua feels like coming home all over again.

I strive to life a purpose-driven life and wholly believe that without a greater purpose, all successes are fleeting.

Team Fuqua challenges me professionally, and academically every day, while providing a support system with the ultimate goal of creating better leaders.

As happens in life, you start with a clear picture of what direction you wish to take, and then one slight detour leads to another until you find yourself somewhere you never imagined.

Fuqua's team format has been an incredibly unique experiment for learning, leading, and organizing the workload we face as students.
